We carried out a demanding retrofit for COLLINI, in which the system from 2006 was converted to modern SIEMENS technology. The co-operation enabled a quick implementation within two weeks. Control cabinets were renewed, the cabling was converted to PROFINET and the communication system was updated to iWLAN, which considerably simplified the cabling work. A new barcode system replaced the outdated distance measurement system. Commissioning and all functional tests were completed after just one week, followed by two weeks of production support to train the employees.
GAT has successfully modernised the WIEGEL plant in Jena. The challenge was to convert a manually operated system to semi-automatic operation. The result is a flexible system that can switch between manual and automatic operation as required. The modernisation included the installation of a new automatic system, the implementation of 10 new travel units, an overhaul of the conductor rail and automated turnouts as well as a new barcode distance measuring system.
This project involved the complete new construction of the conveyor technology for the KARGER 4 plant, with a focus on flexibility and automation. Initial operation data in 2020 showed that our technology had increased production output with reduced personnel requirements, improved the service life of the components and minimised maintenance costs. The adaptable system enables easy switching between operating modes and optimised throughput times. All system parameters are transmitted to the control centre in real time. In addition, redundant components and an emergency control concept safeguard production even in the event of technical failures.
